CMCA Statement (15) Thursday 11 June 2020
Below is a list of updates for members in relation to several important matters.
Board of Director Election 2020
We have been advised by returning officer Michelle Wilson that at the close of nominations last Friday 5 June 2020, under Clause 33.1(a) of the Constitution, she had only received one nomination for the two available positions on the CMCA Board of Directors. NHQ had distributed five director information packs to interested members, and they were also available on the website for all members to view.
As insufficient nominations were received to fill all vacancies, the candidate nominated is deemed elected and the one vacancy becomes a casual vacancy as per Clause 33.1(c)(iii). As a result, no ballot is necessary to be conducted this year and the returning officer hereby declares the following member elected unopposed to the CMCA Board of Directors:
Kim ATKINSON (V66245)
The board, at the board meeting conducted on 9 June 2020, under Clause 36.2, decided for various reasons, that at this point in time they will not fill the vacant position and will continue with a four-person board after the planned annual general meeting in November.
It is disappointing to not receive the desired number of nominations; however, a Board of Director Election will be required in 2021.
The board also resolved at the same meeting, that chapters and SIGs can recommence their meetings from 1 July 2020. However, they must strictly adhere to the numbers permitted at social gatherings within the relevant state or territory (where the meeting will be held).
*Chapter and SIG presidents are responsible for ensuring that social distancing and the restricted numbers, as per Government requirements, are adhered to. A failure to do so may result in serious action from Police and Government officials, including fines for organisers and individuals.
Large Scale Events
We are hoping that the number of people allowed to attend group functions/events will also, in time, permit the Solos Network Rally in Blackbutt, Qld and the Jacaranda Festival in Grafton, NSW to proceed. Both are due to be held in November; however, these are currently still subject to further restrictions being eased regarding numbers permitted at events. NHQ will continue to monitor the situation and be in appropriate contact with both organising committees.
Insurance
We would like to advise that Roadside Assist, until 8 July 2020, can be renewed directly through KTA – renewals only. After this date, any new Roadside Assist policies and renewals will need to be processed through the new partner. We will advise of the relevant direct contact details in due course.
The new agreement for members to consider will be very similar to current policies, with no restrictions on weight, height or length - something other providers cannot match. We will endeavour to keep you advised on progress over the next couple of weeks.
20th Annual General Meeting
We also wish to advise that planning is currently underway for the 20th Annual General Meeting to be held on Saturday 28 November in Canberra, ACT. The likely venue will be the Exhibition Park (subject to change) - the location of a recent CMCA National Rally. We are hoping to gain exemption on numbers (if still required by then) to allow members to attend. As our Constitution stipulates, the Club requires 200 eligible members (physically present) to constitute a quorum. We will keep members fully informed of any further developments and the confirmation of set details in due course.
CMCA RV Parks
Lastly, we would like to advise that we have reopened all CMCA RV Parks, subject to having a custodian in place. All COVID-19 procedures are still required to be adhered to in all our parks.
At June’s board meeting, the board also approved the establishment of two more parks located in Innisfail in North Queensland and Port Pirie at the top of the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. These two developments have been fully supported by relevant councils.
Please ensure you remain safe in both your travels and whilst at home.
Kim Atkinson Richard Barwick
Chairman Chief Executive Officer
