Unfortunately, it has not been a very happy start to the new decade. Our thoughts remain with those affected by the devastating fires and we pray that with the record temperatures expected this weekend, further damage to life and property is minimised. NHQ has received many calls from members wishing to assist, which is greatly appreciated; however, we would suggest that it is done through charitable organisations such as the Red Cross. Ideally, assistance will be required when current conditions subside. We also recommend that if you do wish to volunteer with the clean-up, that BlazeAid be contacted. You can find additional information on this terrific organisation and their contact details HERE.
At this stage, we do not recommend travelling to an affected area to volunteer, as you may not be able to access the region. There is preliminary clean up to be done by authorities prior to commencement of rebuilds. NHQ will keep members advised as/when conditions become more favourable to assist. In the meantime, please support the many communities that are in the recovery situation from previous fires, by visiting and spending money in those regions.
