It has been a huge week in government representation as CMCA attended nine meetings with government and industry leaders in Brisbane. The week concluded with the annual general meeting of RV Clubs of Australia Limited (RVCAL) and November board meeting.
CMCA has been actively pursuing a change in government policy following the Queensland Situation Report that was presented at the RV Road Tourism Forum back in August. A policy change is required for the secondary use of trust land, which is currently considered difficult to implement and use effectively. It prohibits custodians of government land to use the property for activities other than which it was designed for, i.e. racecourses, football grounds and showgrounds etc. CMCA has identified an opportunity and is seeking for a change in policy to potentially allow for RVs to become users of this land.
Director Gary Rebgetz and I have been tasked with this project, with the aim to have a decision from Government by mid-May next year. We have received a good response so far from the all government agencies, industry groups and supporters of this proposal - all who are quite positive. We will endeavour to keep the membership informed regarding this topic.
Safe travelling
Richard
